Bethel Bates, Novelist, Playwright, Screenwriter, Director, and Producer, born and raised on the streets of Philadelphia, profiles her work mostly through the eyes of the urban experiences. Her life growing up on the North side of Philadelphia gave way to a strong literary voice for which she expresses herself and her everyday living experiences in a journal of short stories, songs, and poems.
With a creative mind and an overactive imagination, Bethel (pronounced Beth-l) , was always able to bring her words and her characters to life with a pen and a piece of paper. She spends a great deal of time writing new scripts for The Garden OF Eden Productions (GOEP), a 501C3 nonprofit, community theater production company that she founded in 2006 in the city of Philadelphia. The GOEP is dedicated to shaping and changing the lives of people of all ages through the introduction to theater, media arts, and film.
